But the singer has taken a break from his bedroom studies after falling for the charms of Alexa Chung.
The TV presenter has been secretly dating Theo over the past few weeks.
A source said: "It's still early days but Theo is really keen on Alexa.
"They met at the American music festival Coachella in April and Theo has been spending lots of time in New York, where Alexa lives.
"They share the same interests — music and fashion — and get on really well. But the relationship is still raw and they're not putting too much pressure on each other to make it work at this stage."
Alexa split with Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner this summer after four years together, which is another reason for her and Theo's low-key start. The model has recently bought a house in New York and presents a new reality show called 24-Hour Catwalk on American telly. She got her big break in the States in 2009 when she landed her own show, It's On With Alexa Chung.
Theo admitted recently he was looking for a British girlfriend after "completing the set" while on tour.
He's also admitted he goes for girls "who look like cats".

They both attended the Mulberry party in New York on Monday night and were spotted having a brief chat.
