Sir Jacobs always derived inspiration from a variety of sources for his collections. This season was no exception. Today he riffed off of deconstructed ballerinas from Russia with a tinge of Martha Graham thrown in for good measure. (Given the powder white faces of the models and their flat wooden sandal footwear, we also think said dancers might have been on their way to Asia.

Messenger bags in brown leather; oversized handbags in a metallic bronze hue; kitten heel flip-flops; aforementioned flat wooden sandals

Emma , Madonna, Lady Gaga, Rihanna every fashion editor known to mankind, internet sensations

One never knows what's going to come around the corner at Jacobs' show - starting with the entrance. There was no ornate backdrop this season but instead everyone was ushered into an extremely bright white plaster cube with bench seating (read: everyone is in the front row except for those with standing tickets.

Once the techotronic boom of the speakers sounded off the collective was treated to models wearing sheer spangled stockings and body suits under their ruffled minis and ornately decorated dresses. And that's not wear the ruffles ended. High harlequin-esque collars adorned a multitude of ensembles as did chunky summer scarves.

Aside from the impressive dresses, the utilitarian-style jackets were standouts. Sharply cut and totally flattering they came in shades of blue (as seen here), tan, and army green. Those were the more wearable items, others, like the black lattice suit, not so much. But then again with two equally fashion-forward icons of pop in the audience one never knows.

It was all about colorful striped dresses and candy colored bags that can make every heart long for Spring season when the leaves still have yet to fall.Summer Striped fashion was a major part of Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 Fashion Show at New York Fashion Week as a lot of dresses with stripes zinging horizontally and vertically around the body were flaunted. Bold stripes in yellow and white, red and white, navy and white and turquoise, orange and yellow set the summer holiday mood perfectly. Bright orange, yellow and navy hues, retro style bangles, breezy summer prints, platform heels dominated the runwayMarc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 women’s collection included cool sun-dresses, little blouses with full skirts, jumpsuits, halter necks and round-collared dresses, romper-suit, colorful bowler hats, chunky bracelets, colorful bags and much more. Talking about look of models, it was also very fun and flirty as models were donning bright matte orange lips and electric-shocked frizzy curls.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 men’s collection offered up a softer side to their man this season. It was more casual rather than formal.On the whole, Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 2011 Collection was filled with summer fun presenting dresses adorned with stripes and eclectic prints.To find Marc Jacobs' beauty muse for spring, set the wayback machine to the Me Decade. "We were inspired by Angelica Huston in the '70s," lead makeup artist François Nars explained. To create the bold matte lip, he applied his own Pure Matte lipstick in Volga, along with African Queen lip liner and eyeliner pencil in Mambo. The glossy dark green eye was created with Night Porter and Nouveau Monde eye shadows; Celebrate soft touch shadow pencil; and Larger Than Life mascara. On cheeks, models wore Nars' cult-fave blush Orgasm. Notably absent: eyebrows, which were bleached before the show.

Pedicures were done with CND's Bloodline polish — which, we hear, Marc chose as soon as he saw it. For hands, manicurist Elisa Ferri created a natural-looking nail with CND Perfectly Bare nail polish (with a few drops of Super Matte mixed in).
