Abi Titmuss

Born on September 8, 1976, Abi Titmuss is living proof that sex sells, as her sexual escapades have given rise to her career as an English glamour girl. Abi pushed her way into stardom when a sex tape involving her boyfriend John Leslie (a famous English television host) and another woman became public. Although the publication of the tape effectively ended her nursing career, it could've stopped there. But Abi parlayed her exposure into an acting career of sorts.

To date, Abi has appeared in a number of British reality TV shows, from 2004's Hell's Kitchen to 2005's Celebrity Love Island. She also made recurring appearances on the talk show Richard & Judy and has served as a presenter on British awards. But the sign that you've really made it in the UK is when you make it onto the cover of almost every tabloid, a feat Abi has accomplished.

Model and TV presenter Abi Titmuss is taking legal action against the News of the World after police informed her her phone may have been hacked.

The former nurse came to prominence in 2003 when she was dating former TV host John Leslie, later launching her own modelling and presenting career.

She joins a number of well-known figures who have begun legal proceedings.

Titmuss, 35, has appointed lawyer Charlotte Harris of legal firm Mishcon De Reya, who is already representing Sky Andrew, Leslie Ash and Lee Chapman among others in their civil claims against the News of the World.

Titmuss's agent said today: "We can confirm that Abi Titmuss is taking action against the News of the World following notification by the police that her phone was intercepted over a long period of time."

Titmuss became a familiar face as she supported Leslie when he was accused of rape. He was never charged.

She went on to become a lads' mag favourite. She is currently in rehearsals for a leading role in Dusk Rings a Bell at the Edinburgh Festival in August.

The actress and lads’ mag favourite is understood to have been told by police that her mobile phone messages may have been listened to.

Miss Titmuss, 34, has long-standing links to the News of the World, which helped make her name.

A former nurse, she shot to prominence in 2003 on the arm of John Leslie, the former Blue Peter and This Morning presenter, when he faced allegations of sexual assault.

Mr Leslie’s private life had come under tabloid scrutiny after he was accused of being the man whom Ulrika Jonsson claimed in her autobiography to have been raped by.

A series of other women came forward to make allegations. But when he was charged with a single offence the case collapsed at trial. Miss Titmuss stood by him and gave an exclusive interview to the News of the World afterwards.

She soon landed her first job in television and her fame was sealed a few months later when a sex tape of her and Leslie emerged on the internet.

She went on to pose topless on the front of the lads’ mag FHM and appeared in a string of reality television shows.

But 18 months ago she made a surprise move into heavyweight theatre taking on the role of Lady Macbeth in a production of the Scottish play in Suffolk.

Miss Titmuss’s manager said that the matter was now in the hands of lawyers.

Abi Titmuss grew up in Heckington, Lincolnshire where her parents were teachers, and she took her A levels at Kesteven and Sleaford High School where she played the clarinet. She briefly dated cartoonist BP Perry before moving to Ruskington. Her parents divorced when she was 17, and her father moved to Argyll, Scotland, where he remarried. Her mother is secretary of Sleaford Museum trust.
